At the Community Cancer Center our education and outreach programming is based on cancer risk management, cancer survivorship
and local resources available to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
One of our successful survivorship events is the simulcast of the annual Breast
Cancer Issues Conference made possible through Susan G. Komen Oregon & SW Washington.
The conference provides survivors, support persons, and health care professionals the opportunity to learn about and discuss breast cancer topics with leading oncologists, doctors, researchers and fellow survivors. Topics will cover emerging research and treatment options, breast cancer risk reduction and quality of life issues.
As an outreach resource for local breast cancer survivors the Community Cancer Center is scheduled to host a live simulcast of the 2016 Breast Cancer Issues Conference for the third year in a row. A simulcast of the event will be held in Roseburg, Oregon at
the Community Cancer Center conference room on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm. The event is free to the public and includes a continental breakfast and light lunch.
We are excited to announce that Annie Parker, author and breast cancer advocate, will be the keynote speaker for this year’s annual conference. Annie Parker was the inspiration for Decoding Annie Parker, the 2013 film written and directed by Steven Bernstein. The film stars Samantha Morton, Helen Hunt and Aaron Paul tells the story of Annie Parker and the research to find the genetic link for breast cancer. Annie published her inspirational autobiography, and says “I knew there was a reason I survived, and I hope my story will be a beacon of hope for cancer victims and their families around the world.”
