June is National Cancer Survivors Month and the Community Cancer Center is committed to providing a celebration event for the cancer survivors of Douglas County.
Each year Douglas County Cancer Services hosts the Annual Cancer Survivors Day Celebration, a valued annual event, that is a celebration for those who have survived cancer, an inspiration for those recently diagnosed, a gathering of support for families, and serves as outreach to our community.
Who is a cancer survivor? A cancer survivor is defined as anyone living with
a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. The Cancer Survivors Day Celebration
is an opportunity for our community
to demonstrate that it has an active, productive cancer survivor population and to bring awareness to the challenges they face during and after treatment.
The Douglas County Cancer Services team, along with the Community Cancer Center, strives to make our celebration day special with camaraderie, awards and recognition and plenty of survivorship spirit.
We invite the survivorship
community to join us this year
as motivational speaker Scott Burton entertains us with his hilarious, life- affirming spin on adversity and cancer survivorship with a unique fusion of
clean comedy, world-class juggling and profound cancer stories to make for a truly memorable program. Scott’s program is not just the story of cancer. It is the story of LIFE! We are all survivors. His program hits home for everyone who faces a battle in life. Scott’s story is not only relatable
to all groups, but fills them with laughter and energy.
